April 18th, 2024

The average nanny costs $766 per week: Massachusetts ($899 / week) and Washington, DC, ($894 / week) lead the national averages. 35% of parents dip into savings to help pay for childcare. 43% of parents spend at least four months on a daycare waiting list. Care.com's annual childcare benchmarking study is full of numbers that will keep you up at night, if your toddler wasn't already taking care of that.

So what can you do? Ask your employer if they offer childcare benefits, such as a Dependent Care Account. Talk to family and friends to understand how swapping and sharing childcare can alleviate expenses.

And, vote -- Care.com says that 88% of parents say their presidential vote will be influenced by candidates' positions on childcare.
